Emlyn Hughes is from Rathfarnham in Dublin and he began his motorcycling racing career in 1990 on an 80cc at Aghadowney, Northern Ireland. He moved up to a 125 and road racing in 1992 and in the following year, he was crowned "Best Newcomer" after coming third in Loughshinny.
At the very young age of 19 he was only the second Irish man to win the Manx Grand Prix and he was also the youngest rider ever to win this event.
Emlyn's greatest memory of road racing came in 1994 when he raced against the Irish Legend "Joey Dunlop" who finished fourth in New Zealand with Emo behind him in fifth place.
